Phase 1: Hazmat and biohazard identification
Before any general cleaning begins, a sweep team walks every public area and identifies biohazard situations. At a 50,000-seat event, this includes: vomit in restrooms or concourses, blood from altercations or medical incidents, sharps (needles, broken glass syringes) encountered in restrooms, and any bodily fluid situation in seating areas.
Biohazard cleanup follows OSHA blood-borne pathogen protocols (29 CFR 1910.1030). Crew members handling biological material use PPE including gloves, face shields where splashing is possible, and proper disposal containers for sharps. Phase 5: Concession stand cleanup
Concession stands run their own cleanup on a parallel track, handled by a dedicated concessions team rather than the general venue crew. The concessions scope includes: fryer area degreasing, grill and prep surface sanitization, floor drain cleaning, trash removal from behind the stands, and equipment wipe-down.
Concession areas fall under health department food service inspection standards. A stand that isn’t properly cleaned between events can accumulate grease and bacteria at levels that trigger citation.
